November 6, 2000.
The new week begins with us in Ho Ho, Japan,
birthplace of the man who the Japanese say
single handedly invented the concept of, “having fun in life,”
Toshimoto “Hah Hah” Ginsburg.
We are here in the midst of a presidential election,
wherein has been much public discussion by
those who consider themselves thoughtful
regarding the leading candidates’ intelligence,
or lack thereof -- a humorous notion of its own.
The characteristic of “intelligence”
as conceived of by the vocal intelligentsia of
collective man
has nothing to do with the “leadership” expected by the herd in matters
of consequence.
Humanity, like all other living entities,
is controlled by silent instinct
activity that is far beyond the reach,
or comprehension of conscious intelligence.
Baboons submit themselves to the leadership of one who is by instinct,
fearless,
pitiless, and clever in his aggressiveness.
In the world of instinct, what men call intelligence
is of no significance.
Men of course are not baboons,
and intelligence is of great significance -- but
–
this unique intelligence is still not the true leadership
upon which human survival depends.
In less developed areas of the world
a leader who is blatantly brutal and bloodthirsty
is still revered,
a reality about which their more civilized brethren
express bewilderment and bereavement,
(more of man’s enforced game of pretend),
but the more that a group’s collective life is dependent on thought,
(intelligence),
the more will their thoughts vocalize the praises of
intelligence in their leaders.
Now on to looking
at how this is being played out
inside your brain where the matter can be pragmatically investigated
then -- realized-for-yourself
for your own amazing pleasure and profit.
Even though the areas of the brain
responsible for our consciousness and thoughts are continually involved
in activities necessary for survival
these duties are generally executed without them becoming part of
our
conscious awareness.
The constant surveying and monitoring being done by
outposts of consciousness in the brain
only reaches the level of consciousness
when circumstances require its
thought-based participation.
Most of the time however,
its survival activities go on completely outside of our consciousness,
and thus the activity potential at the level of
conscious thought is
more or less left to its own whim.
This is the situation in which what ordinary men call,
“day dreaming” occurs,
and a phenom that the few call by much less savory labels.
Amongst collective man,
being full-of-thoughts, and verbally adroit
is what it takes to be “intelligent”,
but it is not such talents that plough the fields,
and defend the village,
and the same is so with the individual,
although the individual man’s thoughts are so arranged that realizing
this is akin to
jumping up in the air and then catching yourself.
It truly takes a person with an unusual
neural schematic to experience even the momentary
realization that the thoughts, the self-awared, “self”
in his head at that, and every other instant
is not what is running his life.
(I will assume that anyone still reading this does not have to be
reminded that I am not referring to fate, god, karma, or anything supernatural.)
The realization of this is what, “waking up”
is all about.
To suddenly see this for yourself is the most startling and liberating
experience possible for a human being.
There is a life-of-man
going on
all round you constantly
of which the one you normally see is a satire.
What I refer to is not mystical, metaphorical,
or metaphysical.
Literally! –
behind, below, supporting the ordinary life of man,
as perceived by ordinary men,
is another one -- the silent, non-conscious one that is
the engine actually
driving all of this.
When your eyes suddenly open up to
this reality
it is like gazing at a mime puppet of perhaps
a president, a priest, or a literary giant,
and seeing for the first time the strings that control
the entire drama.
Here is a little something that might be of some help
to some of you if you can undertake it with a relatively
clear head for a time.
Turn on one of the televised religious shows with a
pacing, shouting, arm-waving preacher,
then turn off the sound and just sit -- and look
--
and ponder.
To profitably use such “tricks,” as I call them,
you must look at what you are investigating with
as blank a mind about it as possible
while at the same time calling on the “facts” already
stored in your brain regarding it.
You have to be mentally naive
while at the same time, extremely sophisticated;
as though half of your consciousness is from another planet
with no previous exposure to the matter before you,
and the other half of your consciousness is fully experienced therein,
and between the two,
the pursuit of what I am about to describe takes place.
It indeed is a challenge -- but doable if you have the proper
interest and neural wiring.
Also, I use a religious program not based on criticism of such,
but simply because it offers the most expansive example for this
study.
Assuming that you are familiar with
the messages of such preachers,
as you sit watching a silent version of the activity,
pretending that half of your brain has no idea what the show is about,
and the other half, fully hip,
ponder to yourself as though the inexperienced half of the mind is
in conversation with the knowledgeable half and ask yourself: “What
is possibly going on in what I am watching?
Nothing physically is happening between the speaker and his audience;
There is no tangible transaction going on between them, yet they
are constantly reacting with apparent joy?! What is he saying
to them that causes this explosive response?!”
while simultaneously the half of your consciousness that knows quite
well what is going on is rolling over the fact that the man on stage
is telling the rest of them in the audience how they are mis-living
their lives, and assuring them that if they will accept the thoughts
he is espousing that their lives will not only improve in all possible
mundane ways,
but that in fact
even after they die they will still be alive in an even better location.
Ponder it well and uncritically:
millions of people all over the world
physically toiling to pay for extraordinary structures
to which they bring themselves faithfully to hear another human being
berate and condemn them for simply being alive and human,
and promising them that unless their thoughts are replaced by HIS
thoughts,
things will get even worse later.
And remind yourself that the purpose in this is not to
criticize religion, but to ponder for yourself:
“Where is the solid basis for all of man’s non tangible interests
and activities?
What is going on in that much of what occupies even
‘intelligent’ people’s lives are things that only exist in their
thoughts --
yet they refuse to see it that way?”
In other words:
“What is it that I am not realizing about the fact that a large and
apparently significant part of ordinary men’s lives is taken up with
things that they pretend to take seriously, but which are clearly products
of their own thoughts and thus whose lack of real significance is known
to them?”
Not knowing the answer to this is sad.
Seeing the answer to this is -- Enlightenment.
Why be sad when you are already so close to
the city of Ho Ho?
And a son said to his father:
“Tell me again how a serious man is an idiot,”
and the elder replied:
“I thought I told you that a serious man is ‘asleep’?!”
“Yeah, you did, but I went ahead and made the suitable verbal substitute
on my own.”
What ordinary thoughts call, “intelligence” did not put you to sleep,
and intelligence will not awaken you,
and although this is not precisely correct
it won’t make any difference to you until you finally realize better
for yourself.
What is ordinarily accepted as "intelligence" in the minds of men
is little more than examples of instinct in the early stages of
causing the brain to speak.
Until you recognize that the engine
will only run on Super Premium,
it will continue to operate using the beet juice you’re
putting in it.
See -- it is not possible to lose.
You simply cannot go wrong in life.
The difference between being everyday, and being enlightened
is in realizing this.
To be awake is to distinguish what is real from
what is thought-about.
THINK ABOUT IT!
(Just a bit of concluding comedy relief….
….as if such is actually necessary,
everything considered.)

In case you don't find this thing already
sufficiently strange,
consider this:
Trying to awaken is the only activity in which
someone who understands the matter
cannot tell you how to accomplish it,
they can only tell you when you are not doing
it .
Running has always been man's most popular
sport
because it offers,
in the shortest period of time,
a way of switching your core engine over from
thinking to instinct.
