Humans are under assault –
not by other humans, and not by supernatural/demonic forces,
but by the pressure of life to explore, expand and evolve --
and not in the body --  but in the mind.

When life wants non thinking creatures to change it accomplishes its ends unilaterally,
and while you certainly cannot say that such is still not the case with man,
life certainly instills in him the impression otherwise;
man is made to feel he can exercise extraordinary freedom in the non tangible realm wherein he is so singular and so excels;
thus it is that all men feel under fire to keep moving internally,
to never be satisfied with the mental status quo.

Ordinary men most commonly relieve this relentless pressure by
criticizing other men’s lack of movement,
a diversionary tactic which the majority of people obviously find acceptable;
it is such an innate, omnipresent part of all human speech both oral and written
that it is given no specific notice,
but if you will tune your ear to its frequency --  there it is --
playing: 24/7/52  --  on all stations.

Criticizing others for not being mentally alive, curious and creative
substitutes for you not being so,
and humans doing so collectively eventually does result in
what appears to mortal perception to be, progress-in-the-abstract
(as opposed to growth in technology which is progress in the concrete).

By the world wide, well traveled road of, criticizing-other-men’s-mental-stodginess
does advancement seem to occur in the
second, intangible reality produced by human thought:
to men’s eyes: art improves;
to their ears, music,
and to their minds, so does everything else that cannot be locked in a box:
literature, politics, justice, religion, philosophy, morality, and so on,
and to criticize changes in these areas as being meaningless,
is to walk that road with the rest of them.

Overall, this is how life wants it to work:
everyone criticizing everyone else for their mental stagnation,
and some even criticizing the criticizers --
                 --  but roosters crow at dawn and the sun knocks off work at dusk.

Thus are humans under assault.

Amidst man is a race of secret warriors
whose position on this matter differs much from the majority.

These unknown warriors do not wage a visible war --  for they have no enemy.

They do not constitute an army in that each one works alone  --
and in ignorance of who else may be so involved.

Their aim is not in conflict with humanity's (it is, but that cannot be discussed here),
and they are in no wise the critics of life (they are -- but at life's behest,
and again, this cannot be talked about publicly).

These invisible warriors become so through being under greater pressure to explore and expand than everyone else is,
and they cannot realize relief by shifting their attention from themselves to others;
whether or not other people on the planet are striving individually to
expand their mental conception of life is completely irrelevant to them;
other people's words and ideas simply play no part in their equations and explorations.

                A warrior is no warrior at all --  save he be solitary.

If you stand with the herd, you can never escape the common assault on the herd,
and internally, invisibly, inaudibly, imperceptibly do the secret warriors
move away from everyone else, in every possible way and direction,
and are then able to take up previously unrealized vantage positions
whereby they can see from horizon to horizon;
they can see the forces that are driving the herd,
and they recognize the endless interherd tangos, bug-tussles,
and real-time reincarnations for what they are and the purpose they serve.

Reconnoitering wasnever so sweet,
and certainlyinthisuniverse never so revealing.

A real warrior does not waste his existence looking at,  or to other people;
life has them doing one thing, and has permitted him the rare opportunity
to do something entirely different;
but if you allow the mechanical fascination that the herd exudes on routine cows
to overcome you also --  you’re dead meat;  you’re tomorrow’s hot dog.

The herd (humanity collectively) does not and cannot move quickly enough
to provide a warrior his mental needs;
men stand around, shoulder to shoulder;
nudging one another side to side;
jostling each other back and forth;
pushing one another this way then that,
and all the while stirring up an endless, inescapable dust storm,
which clouds everyone’s vision involved.

All real inner exploration and expansion is done alone --  in private;
is this even necessary to note?!  --   who else is in there but you?!
But yes, it is necessary to point out, for the ordinary thoughts which man routinely receive via the collective herd antenna lead him to talk as though there is two of him; one doing the thinking, and another one aware of the thinking,
(when he remembers to notice that he can be aware).

It is all so confusing -- what is a poor cow to do.
