For a person with the inborn attraction to the idea of,
waking-up from man’s routine state of mind,
once they discover some professed method for doing so,
it becomes the most serious thing in their life,
(in a way that only those with that special hunger can appreciate),
but the initial, apparently well deserved seriousness of the undertaking
can gradually distort your perception to such a degree that
you eventually sit unknowingly in the mud at the terminus of a dead end street,
motor running --  tires spinning, but getting no where,
(a bone piercing frustration, singular to the few).

If the truth were publicly said, the majority of people drawn to the idea of
achieving a more explanatory state of mind
never receive for their efforts much more than frustration,
and usually will either conclude that there is no one now alive who knows how to do it and can teach them, or will just progressively lose active interest therein,
(though able when the occasion demands, to verbally profess contrarily,
such people can never totally forget their attraction to the matter,
and their past involvement, and it often becomes an acrid verbal hobby for them;
from their frustration, they become bitter and sarcastic about the whole idea of
another state of extraordinary understanding --  and yet can never completely let it go).

There are people who display a seriousness about this endeavor that is striking:
they will give up family, fame & fortune to live in remote,
oppressive physical conditions with little semblance of a normal human existence
for the opportunity of one day experiencing that special, dreamed-of inner realization.
And for every one person who so physically subjects their self,
there are a thousand who do so mentally, via: reading books;
attending lectures; discussing the matter with others,
and endless thinking about it in the privacy of their own head.

If you have that inborn desire to the fever pitch:
there is nothing you will ever think about that compares thereto
in seriousness: not health, wealth, reputation, education, death --  nothing;
you do not plan it, and you do not sit down and rationally compare this burning interest with life’s other offerings --  you simply cannot help it;
it is just the way you are in your head, and you often wonder if you are the only
SANE person in the world with the interest.
For a long time, to say that the idea & goal of breaking loose from the present activity taking place automatically in your head is serious --
is really an understatement; it is seriousness personified;
for many years, a man with a marrow drenching version of the hunger
would swap anything in life for the experience (whatever it may prove to be) of:  Waking-up;
  being-Enlightened
    discovering-The-Secret;
       seeing-things-as-they-really-are.

Oh tempora! --  what glorious inner days in which to live;
driven by an anticipation absolutely unequaled in any other human endeavor.
People first struggling to pull themselves from the inner misty dream
experience a joyous excitement that cannot be told to others –
they barely comprehend it themselves  --   but its reality is unquestionable.
They are not deluded in the pursuit of their goal,
but are indeed after a goal which will dispel for them, all delusions.
For the few it proves simply to be an almost totally private,
irrepressible, ineffable affair:
one around which (for some years) the very essence of their life revolves.

          But --  damn!  if years of failure can’t get severely frustrating.
“Damn!  --  does anybody ever succeed in this?!
Is there even anybody who actually understands what this thing is about?” --
and if you mention the situation to ordinary people they will say that they could have told you in the beginning that you were wasting your time in the whole affair,
and if you talk about it with others going through the same frustration
you end up comparing and complaining about fraudulent gurus, books, groups
you have been misled by.
Too easily can it finally become more trouble & disappointment than the effort is worth.

(But alas, such proves life: one morning you are a robin, then someone becomes a BB gun,
and the next thing you know they’re singing, “Amazing Grace” over you
while someone details reincarnation in your stone cold ear as they prime the formaldehyde pump.
[The super serious  should obviously ignore this little parenthetical outburst].)

To the few born with an attraction to the notion of realizing a new head world
substantially different from man’s common one,
not only does the idea feel to them supremely serious,
but also everyone they find who offers to instruct them in achieving it treats it likewise, but the entity solely responsible for the seriousness
(not to mention the whole notion itself) is not you --  and is not some grim guru,
it is thought.

When the subject of a man hunt offers comments regarding his own whereabouts --
must the question of his sincerity even be raised.

From the radical, instinctive level view, there is but one thing “serious” in life --   death,
everything else that is “serious” is so only because human thought has said it is,
and human thought has accepted what it has declared.

It is woefully predictable how easily people with that certain hunger
will pass right by what was talked about in yesterday’s Real News;
their thoughts, (in all of their would-be, metaphysical excitement),
will ignore the most pregnant and promising coded information contained in the verbal fact presentation, ergo:
Every thing men can think about either has a physical reality or does not,
and those which do not  --   his thoughts created,
and only the thoughts he has about things which have a physical reality are serious --  the others --  mere entertainment:
there are no exceptions to this, and while to ordinary minds the statement ranges from wrong to boring,
for the minds and welfare of the few --  there is no limit to
what its badger pursuit can reveal.

Even when the sincere amongst the few first try to consider the statement,
their thoughts (notice for yourself) immediately say there are exceptions,
or at least, one exception,
and will usually bring in such words as, “spiritual, or soul”
something that it will present as a third alternative to all thoughts being only about things which have either a physical existence or else just a mental one,
and if you can be so seduced and misdirected, then it cannot be helped,
but be comprehensively assured that prosecuting a thorough investigation of
just that one simple sounding statement can give you everything that
less perceptive people give up a normal life in quest of,
and which most of those who undertake same never past Frustrationville get.

Everyone who truly wants to know for themselves what waking-up is actually about, and who orders in the next thirty minutes will receive free, an unrestricted guarantee,
that if they will throw themselves wholeheartedly into the consideration of
the above statement in red until they suddenly exhaust the subject
will suddenly see for themselves exactly what is going on,
and what has been driving them all of these years,
and why, up until that very moment of sudden realization,
all of their efforts produced nothing but frustration.

The thoughts that appear in your head which speak even about, “waking up”
and becoming free from dreams and delusions --  even those thoughts
treat the whole realm of thought about things which have no physical substance
with a seriousness which, while normal with ordinary people,
is ultimately poison to the few.

There is, in the supreme realization of it all, nothing whatsoever –
in any fashion or form that is “serious” in any thought that any man can have about
any matter which has no physical reality or counterpart;
thoughts can THINK that they do  --  but no such matter has any seriousness to it,
not by any stretch of any mental definition  --   none.

Realizing this is indeed  --   a day to write home about!
......(if there was anybody you could actually tell about it).

     A mentally “serious man” is simply a fool,
     and does not comprehend at all what life is about   --   not like is possible for a few.
